1st Annual Guys Night sponsored by Nike - November 15, 2009

We're super excited about our first annual Guys Night Event on Sunday November 15th. For years we have hosted a really successful Lady's Night Event and we have been desperately trying to figure out something to do for the guys.

We think we really struck gold with this idea! Come join Future Track for a Fun-Run and Nike Shoe Trial (you can test-drive their new LunarGlide shoe) on an easy 30-45min run at 3:45pm. Then come on in to the store and enjoy a beer tasting presented by Essential Wine Co. of Camarillo and make your picks for the "Pick-A-Square" contest.

Mingle and enjoy the company until the Sunday Night Football game kicks off at 5:20pm and will be screened on our large panel flat screen! Enjoy free food and beer during the game.

We will be awarding prize packages to the people that guess the correct score at the end of each quarter of the football game - you have a chance to win some really cool stuff from Nike, Future Track, and Essential Wine Co.

Learn more about the event by visiting www.futuretrackrunning.com/guysnight and be sure to RSVP!

Guys Night
Runner's Maintenance Workshop presented by Pivotal Pilates - November 5, 2009
It's not enough to have just the correct arm swing, or a proper short stride with the weight bearing foot under the hip, or any other specifics relating to gaining better speed, strength or endurance. You need to address the basic principle of movement, the foundation of efficient and injury free movement. Everyone has heard of the Core, but there is more. These foundation principles have to do with understanding the tension and tone of the muscles, the range of motion at the joints that is normal to the body, keeping the body’s center of gravity, natural momentum of a body moving through space, and the fluid flow of good movement. If this sounds confusing, it's not. Let me explain a few simple principles to help you stay healthy and injury free. I'll also include nutritional information for the balanced and healthy runner. PIlates has been used by many athletes to balance out their sports specific training. Athletes like baseball's pitcher Curt Schilling, football's offensive guard Ruben Brown, basketball's Jason Kidd, as well dance luminaries George Balanchine and Martha Graham, have all used pilates to prevent injuries and promote functional balance in the body. Pivotal Motion Pilates has a strong track record in the community for providing quality movement re-education, using these basic principles. With clients ranging from sports casters to weekend athletes of all ages, out combined 16 years of experience will provide you with the knowledge you need to improve your sport, in a holistic and healthy way. This brand of the Classical Pilates Method cannot be found at any other studio in Westlake Village or Thousand Oaks. Things we will cover:
  • The one thing every runner must stretch, but almost no one does.
  • When is the most effective time to stretch?
  • How to tell if you are really strengthening your "core" or just wasting your time?
  • Plus much more...
Be prepared to move. And bring a mat. This won't just be a lecture. If you would like to attend this in-store event on Thursday, November 5th @ 7:30pm please RSVP to Steve@futuretrackrunning.com

Calabasas Classic Training Program presented by Future Track - Kick-off on July 8th, 2009

Are you looking to run your first 5k or 10k? Are you looking to improve your personal best for a 5k or 10k? Then the Calabasas Classic Training Program presented by Future Track is perfect for you!

Beginning on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 Future Track will be hosting a four month training program in preparation for the Calabasas Classic on November 8, 2009. Meeting twice per week - Wednesdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 8:30am - we will take you through a progressive training program that will build your endurance, strength and speed, while teaching you proper running mechanics and educating you on other aspects of running.

This training program is free to anyone who has registered for the race and you will enjoy beginner or intermediate training plans developed by veteran coach and Future Track owner, Bill Duley. Assisting coach Duley will be Future Track Manager Gloria Rios, who has coached many runners, walkers, and triathletes in local training groups. Also assisting will be, yours truly, Steve McQuaide who will be coming out of coaching retirement for this special training program. With three coaches on staff, each training program member will be sure to have individualized attention to ensure they reach their goals.

We will be posting more detailed information about the Calabasas Classic Training Program in the Events Section of our website within the next week or two. The Training Program is open to runners of all ability levels, but is really focused on helping beginning and intermediate runners to acheive their goals.

Annual Holiday Fun Run
December 20th, 2008

Our Annual Holiday Fun Run was a huge success as usual. Those in attendence enjoyed a beautiful run on a chilly winter morning. Groups ran or walked for an easy 3 or 5 miles and returned to the store for a delicious pancake breakfast provided and cooked by Future Track owner Bill Duley. All those in attendence were given a free t-shirt; the first a series of "Max" shirts that we will be making. You have known Max for years as the stick figure running in our logo. Max will now be included in Future Track shirts that really speak to the endurance athlete and fitness minded person. Stay tuned for more designs to be announced through our website!
